Teachers, how do you want to be remembered by your
students?
Sunday, October 10, 2010
EVERY person wants to be remembered with a distinct mark. Be it negative or positive. Either way, we are remembered by our peers based on how we live our life and how we deal with others regardless of our chosen field of endeavor. As they say, great and noble personalities are being remembered by the noble deeds they made and the sacrifices they endured for a certain cause.
In this light, it is up to the person on how he would shape his
image and personality for public perception. Though at times the public eye is
very crucial, more often than not, it always sees the dark side of a person and
it can easily point an accusing finger to anyone who dares to stand proud.
Undoubtedly, he must act accordingly considering the double
standard of the society where he tries to belong. More so, he must take into
consideration the ethical and moral standards of the church and the society as
a whole.
In any profession or field of endeavor, our society has set a
standard to be observed, set of rules and regulations which are to be followed
to the fullest extent. Ergo, if anyone wants to be remembered as remarkably
good, he must at all cost follow the rules no matter how hard it is to be good
in the midst of temptations, he must try his best to do it. Even if it means
that he will face the best against the world.
In teaching, a considerable amount of patience, coupled with
dedication, hard work and the sincerest desire to educate the youth and uplift
the literacy rate of the entire citizenry is needed. Very tedious work, coupled
with enormous obligations, and chivalry in action, all spell the labor of a
teacher. A noble vocation, a noble duty, a noble endeavor cause the very
existence and the essence of a teacher.
Teachers are considered as the molders of the society. From
their tender hands rises a learned populace. From their hearts, a resounding
echo of love beats in unison. From their memories, a legacy is born, a legacy
that was planted and nourished to stand the test of time, deeply rooted in the
hearts of those they have touched. A respectful image stands proud, unblemished
character, indisputable figure, and unforgettable persona. That is how a
teacher is remembered.
That is how I remember all my teachers. I am very thankful to
all of them, because without them I will not be what I am now today. Perhaps it
is my respect to my teachers and intense desire to be like them is the main
reason why I ended up threading this profession. I have chosen to be a proud
teacher.
Consequently, I want to be remembered as a teacher with a great
heart, imbued with all the necessary faculties and values of a responsible and
dedicated public servant with honesty and integrity nobody can question. I want
to be remembered by my students as a friend, a sister, a mother, who always
understands their inadequacies, their shortcomings, their mistakes. I want to
be remembered as a teacher who taught her students to rise above their problems
and shortcomings. I want them to remember me as their teacher who is willing to
make sacrifices for them to achieve their goals and for them to find a good
place in our society.
To all teachers out there, reflect. How do you
want to be remembered by your students?

Of course I want to be remembered as a teacher with a great heart, imbued with all the necessary faculties and values of a responsible and dedicated public servant with honesty and integrity nobody can question. I want to be remembered by my students as a friend, a sister, a mother, who always understands their inadequacies, their shortcomings, their mistakes. I want to be remembered as a teacher who taught her students to rise above their problems and shortcomings.I really appreciate if my students will say a simple thank you word for the job that I deed for touching their lives in a simple way. ;)
